How to check your exact SASSA payment date

How to check your SASSA payment date: website, app and phone

There are four official and free ways to confirm your grant payment date and check your available balance. None of them require you to visit a SASSA office in person or share your banking details with a third party.

πŸ’» 1. Official SASSA website β€” sassa.gov.za

Visit sassa.gov.za and navigate to the “Grants” section to view the current official payment schedule. The website publishes the confirmed payment dates for each grant type every month. You can also check the status of your grant application and verify that your bank account details are correctly registered for direct deposit.

πŸ“± 2. SASSA SRD Portal and WhatsApp channel

For SRD R350 grant recipients, check your payment status and bank account details at srd.sassa.gov.za. SASSA also operates an official WhatsApp channel β€” send a message to 082 046 8553 to receive automated updates on your grant status, payment date and available balance directly on your phone.

πŸ“ž 3. SASSA toll-free helpline β€” 0800 60 10 11

Call 0800 60 10 11 toll-free from any landline or mobile phone. Agents are available Monday to Friday during office hours and can confirm your payment date, the amount of your grant payment and the bank account or Postbank account registered for your benefit. Have your South African ID number ready to verify your identity.

For elderly beneficiaries without access to a smartphone, this is the most accessible option and requires no internet connection or bank account access.

🏦 4. Bank account statement or Postbank balance check

If your grant is paid via direct deposit into a personal bank account, check your bank statement through your bank’s mobile app, internet banking or ATM. The credit will appear as “SASSA” followed by the grant type and amount on your transaction history.

For Postbank account holders, check your available balance at any Post Office branch, Postbank ATM or by dialling *120*3210# (USSD β€” free on most networks). This is especially useful in areas with limited internet connectivity.

If you collect via the SASSA gold card at a retailer, you can ask the cashier to check your available balance before completing your transaction at no additional cost.

Practical tip: set a monthly reminder on your phone for the day before your expected payment date so you can plan your shopping, bank transfers and bill payments accordingly.
